What this module does

GROW is a coaching structure for moving from an unclear wish to a self-owned next step: Goal, Reality, Options, and Way forward. Selecton uses its clarifying logic rather than treating it as a rigid questionnaire.

How to use it

  1. Goal: describe the outcome in observable terms.
  2. Reality: name the current facts and constraints.
  3. Options: generate more than one route forward.
  4. Way forward: choose a specific next action and time.

Practical example

Situation

Someone says, “I should change careers,” but cannot explain what a better career would change.

Result

The Goal becomes “do work with more autonomy and visible outcomes”; Reality shows a financial runway constraint; Options include an internal move and a small paid project before resignation.

Limitations

  1. GROW does not supply expert knowledge or facts you do not have.
  2. Leading questions can disguise advice as coaching.
  3. A clear goal may still require another method for comparison or risk.

How it fits into Selecton

The app keeps a reliable five-stage baseline and now adds an adaptive-methods-v1 layer: typed method cards can be selected automatically or received as an explicit lens from a method page. Full non-linear routing and effectiveness measurement remain under evaluation.

Auto, adaptation, and combinations

The intended Auto mode selects one primary method for the next useful move, based on the state of the decision. A route may use different modules in sequence—for example GROW to clarify a goal, weighted criteria to compare options, then a pre-mortem to test the plan. They are not blended into an opaque prompt: every transition should remain explainable and reversible to the baseline route.
